On Friday 10 November, we hosted a Service of Remembrance at St Pancras Hospital to remember those who never came back home and to support our wider veteran and military family including services users and their families and carers as well as colleagues and local community.
The memorial service was led by Rev Lizzie Baughen, who is our Chaplain at C&I, and who encourage attendees to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives while serving in the military.
At the event, we also heard from John Allison, lead peer support worker from our Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, who shared reflections and thoughts about his own lived experience.
At 11am we held a two-minute silence and some of the attendees laid their wreaths at the front of the room and shared a personal message in our Book of Remembrance. This was followed by a war veteran who played the beugel.
Shortly after the memorial service, attendees were invited to come to St Pancras Gardens, outside St Michael’s Church, to join a brief wreath laying service around the war memorial in the gardens.
We want to thank everyone who joined us at the event including colleagues from Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and partners like The Ripple Pond. A special thank you to our team at The Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service for organising the event.
