The North London Mental Health Partnership (NLMHP) has formally signed up to the NHS Sexual Safety in Healthcare Charter.
The document which contains ten core principles aims to ensure that staff work in an environment free from sexual misconduct, violence, harassment or abuse. Signatories to the charter commit to taking and enforcing a zero-tolerance approach to any unwanted, inappropriate and/or harmful sexual behaviours within the workplace and to ten core principles to help achieve this.
They include pledging to actively work to eradicate sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace, clearly communicating standards of behaviour and taking timely action around any sexual misconduct.
Signing the charter at November’s Board meeting, Jinjer Kandola MBE, Partnership Chief Executive said:
“The Board is fully committed to providing a workplace where all our staff proactively work together to make it a place free from any sexual misconduct.
“As individuals, and as a Partnership, we need to ensure that the right action is being taken to identify, safeguard and care for individuals who have been or are being sexually assaulted or abused.
“Feeling secure and safe whatever our role is fundamental to creating a great place to work and I am delighted and proud to sign up to the charter on behalf of all Partnership staff.”
It is expected that signatories will implement all ten commitments by July 2024.
