Step Into Work launches at the Partnership

We successfully recruited 11 delegates to take part on Step Into Work, a 12-week programme aimed at providing them with skills and real work experience to pursue a career in the NHS.

After a few months of recruitment and a positive response from people interested in the programme, we recruited 11 delegates or ‘Steppers’ to join the programme which kicked off on 26 February. Prior to this, the delegates took part in an assessment day to share about their background, interests and hopes for the programme.

Over the next couple of months, the Steppers will be taking part in a number of training opportunities, workshops and a three-week in-person placement across a number of departments in the Partnership including HR, IT and Administration.

During the last few weeks of the programme, they’ll be attending a workshop on employability skills and taking a psychometric test with our partners at Talent Predix. Steppers will also be receiving career coaching advice as part of the programme.

On completion of the programme, the participants will receive an employability skills certification with the hope they can join the Partnership via an apprenticeship, bank temporary staff or a substantive post. They will also be documenting and sharing their experience with us so make sure to keep an eye out for this!

Feedback from the delegates’ first week was very positive:

“The first week has been very productive”

“The disability network event that we had the opportunity to attend was good and a good opportunity to network and the wellbeing webinar was also interesting and informative”.

The Steppers are based at St Ann’s Hospital in Haringay throughout the duration of the programme, so you may see them around, especially while they take on their in-person placements.

Step into Work has been possible thanks to funding from Health Education England (HEE). The funding will also allow us to run another two cohorts of delegates later in the autumn and early next year.

Make sure to keep an eye out for more updates on the programme and the delegates’ journeys.
