The Partnership hosted The Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and showed them how our services work while they were on a study tour in the UK.
The Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) is similar to the UK Royal College of Psychiatrists, providing Continuing Professional Development for its members, with a special focus on medical managers who work in Australia and New Zealand.
We were delighted to play host to RACMA’s first Study Tour of the UK last week, when 18 senior members of the College visited us for the day on Tuesday 18 July. In the morning, a number of the Trust’s consultants and senior managers gave brief presentations about the work of the Trust, our close links with UCL, our approach to QI, safety and governance, and some of our newest developments, such as the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS).
In the afternoon, the attendees visited some of our services in small groups, including our S136 Place of Safety suite, our women’s PICU, our older people’s day services, our community rehabilitation units (Highview, Aberdeen Park and 154 Camden Rd), our MHCAS and Drayton Park women’s crisis house. We are the only mental health organisation the Study Tour has included in its 10 day visit to the UK and we were honoured to be invited to showcase our work to them. The group were extremely interested and really positive about what they saw and heard, so many thanks to everyone who made the day a great success!
